An art zine exploration that serves as a case study in semiotics:
The work explores how signs, symbols and simulacras works and are communicated and interpreted across different visual methods -like illustrations, photos, and words- and contexts. Situated on a desk with pencils and crayons, allowing the audience to interact with, and create their own simulacras and translations.
Engaging in a semiotic exploration, the zine challenges the viewer’s perception of the boundaries between the represented, real and the mental concept. Challenging the conventional meanings and creating space for different interpretations, while also showing how simulacras can be used as a tool to illustrate various expressions while using the same concept. It shows how a concept -in this case an apple- can be perceived and can vary in meaning based on artistic choices, cultural influences, and individual experiences.
